Three year old gift guide

Image
Three year old gift guide.   Below is a list of what I selected for my sons third birthday, I hope this bring inspiration to your gift buying this year x  Three is such a nice age and iv really been enjoy all the new things we can do together.  *Note a few of these were giving to Forrest earlier in the year while in isolation so most of these would also be great gifts for two year + olds.  Wobble board  Fo loves his wobble/ balance board! We find it so versatile, not only does he use it to balance on but also as a car track, a bridge, a house for his farm animals and a slide for his ball pit. I really recommend this one. Magnetic tiles  This is another open ended toy my son is really into. He has a small pack now he loves to play with all the time, making houses or bridge track. So I went ahead and got him the large deluxe pack. I think he’s going to have many hours of play with these.    Balance bike/ trike  We actually got Fo a balan...

Tips - Potty training your toddler

Tips - Potty training your toddler   Starting potty training can be daunting for some. You might think when’s the right time? What’s the right method? How do I start?  To be honest there is no same time or method for everyone. It’s all based on your child. When they are ready and what method works for them.  Below is tips on how we potty trained our 24 month old toddler successfully and smoothly within weeks.  FYI- this blog is a bit TMI  Tip number one-  Get a good method. My number one recommendation would be to read ‘Oh crap potty training!’ Book by Jamie Glowacki and follow through with the method consistently and correctly. This book was very simple and clear so me to understand the blocks in which to conduct our potty training and the method is very simple for my child to understand. I liked that this method consisted of no confusion for my toddler by implementing that once the nappies are gone, they are gone.   I think some methods t...

Mumma make up dupes

Image
As a busy mumma my make up and make up routine as really changed over the years. I have to apply a quick face that is lighter and more suitable for play dates and being in the sun at the park/ beach ect. So I need products that last all day and also are more affordable now we have a little one to support. So I have made a quick list of cosmetics dupes I have discovered that are Vegan, cruelty free, affordable, easy to find and easy to apply.  I have also included some of my favourite cosmetics that I have not found anything that compares to these products. These might be at a higher price point but they last a long time and are worth the cost.  *A couple of other make up tools I should mentions are the MCobeauty blender sponge it is almost as good as the original beauty blender, it does a great job. Also I a have a few Elf cosmetics brushes in my set that accompany my Sephora set.  *Another tip is if you don’t use much of something (for example I don’t use much prim...

Of course Hat and sunscreen should be on And for footwear rain boots are great so your child can walk on/in any surfaces.  Be prepared.  Make sure to pack a backpack of snacks, water bottle, extra sunscreen/ bug repellent, wipes and hand sanitiser. Also a little bag or basket to collect nature.  Go on adventures together .  Be present and apart of the exploration. Climb on rocks, find sticks and run down hills with your child. Collect .  Let your child feel different textures, pick flowers and collect nature.   There are heaps of activities you can do with the nature you’ve collected...

MONTESSORI INSPIRED TOYS WE LOVE

Image
Montessori inspired toys we love  In our home I love to use mostly Montessori inspired materials for my son and that includes toys. I try to be quite selective when it comes to toy selection for my son. I like the toys I provide to be interesting , beautiful, constructive, educational and I also want them to last a long time and get a lot of use- Montessori toys are perfect for this.  What is a  Montessori Toy ? A  Montessori toy  is one that stimulates learning by encouraging kids to experiment. They are usually made out of natural materials like wood and are higher in quality. Montessori toys are generally simple and based in reality.  Below is a list of just some of the Montessori toys my son loves.  Wooden rainbow stacker-  this has been such a versatile toy. I purchased this for my sons first birthday and he still uses it today. He loves to stack them but also use them to make hills for his animals or ramps for his cars....

Simple activities using recycled materials

Simple activities using recycled materials  Below are a few of our go to toddler crafts and activities using recycled materials. Egg cartons  - There are so many fun crafts you can do with eggs cartons. Some of our favourites are painting egg carton monsters, making ‘Very Hungry Caterpillars’, carton crocodiles or egg carton ladybugs! These are all so easy to do with a toddler just paint and create!  Cardboard boxes -  Kids love boxes. You can make so many things out of them if you use your imagination. We love using large boxes to make things like a house, a race car and even a space ship.  Of course you can also use a variety of boxes for painting activities and sometimes I just let my son sit in a large box with his crayons or chalk and just go for it!  Old books    -   If you have some old books that are too worn to even donate you can reuse them by cutting them up and letting your child paste and create a collage...
