TRYING TO STAY HEALTHY DURING PREGNANCY
Trying to stay healthy during
pregnancy
Staying
healthy during your pregnancy defiantly can be a hard thing to do. Whether your
suffering from morning sickness, to exhausted to move or just craving that
unhealthy snack keeping up that healthy lifestyle can be challenging but these
are my tips to remaining healthy during most of your pregnancy.
Water
Water is so
very important! Even before I became pregnant I drunk 2L of water per day and
during pregnancy I drink 2.5-3L per day. Water provides hydration, cleans out
toxins from your body and is essential to having a healthy baby, so please
drink your H2O.
Food
Your diet
is also very important during your pregnancy especially if you want to provide
baby with healthy vitamins while they grow and develop in you belly. But food
may be the hardest thing to manage while being pregnant due to sickness and
cravings. I myself suffer from serve pregnancy nausea which makes it difficult
to keep anything down or eat anything at all. Most of the time I would only snack
on salted pretzels or chips and finding it hard to consume anything else, but
once I was prescribed medication it made it easier to eat and I wanted to try
to make healthy choices. Its great to eat things like oats, fruit and veg,
beans, whole grain breads and pasta and lean meats.
Also
remember the foods you should avoid completely during pregnancy such as sushi,
soft cheeses, uncooked eggs and meat, deli meats, caffeine and of course
alcohol.
Below I have given some suggestion on healthier food you can try for yourself.
Exercise
It is
important to keep exercising during pregnancy but in a safe way. Exercises I do
include afternoon walks with my husband, its great to get some fresh air. I
also use my elliptical exercise machine which is perfectly save for pregnant women,
doing 10-30minutes a day on a low incline. Just make sure you stop for water
breaks and watch out your heart rates doesn’t become to high. Yoga is also a
favourite of mine. Pop on a pregnancy yoga Youtube video and your relaxing
candle and enjoy the stretching, which is great to decrees pregnancy pains in
your body you may experience like lower back pain. Exercising may seem like an
impossible thing to do most days as you may feel so tired you can’t even get
out of bed, but I assure you your body will thank you for it, just take it easy
and do the best you can.
Medication
As your
doctor will tell you, it is important you take your pregnancy and breast
feeding vitamins through out your pregnancy.
Pregnant women
ca also be prone to headaches but just remember we can only take certain
medications like paracetamol, so ask your doctor about this.
If you
suffer from HG like I do its best to speak to your doctor about medication
which can ease your pregnancy nausea and help you keep food down.
Stress and emotional state
If your
like me, you might come across a lot of stress and anxiety during pregnancy. Whether
its cause by work, financial worries or just worrying about our baby stress can
be very harmful to you and your infant. I try to manage my stress by taking bubble
baths, reading a good book, listening to relaxing music or by yoga and
exercise.
I have also
experience highs and lows most possibly caused by hormones, which can leave me
feeling down and sad but its good to get support from a family member or friend
who you can to talk to about how your feeling and cooping though out. Sleeping is
also very crucial, make sure you are getting enough sleep and taking naps if
you feel tired.
Beauty products
You may
find that some beauty products you may usually use during your everyday life
may be unsafe to use while pregnant. Things like lotions, hair products,
cosmetics and products containing anti aging properties are a no no to use as
they can carry risky ingredients. Its good to do you research or ask your doctor
about products that are safe to use. Oral hygiene is also very important. I make
sure I brush two times a day plus also floss and use mouth wash to keep you
mouth fresh from bacteria. It might also be a good idea to get a check up and
clean from your dentist before you baby is born.
These are
some things that I do to try remain healthy during pregnancy. It can be very
hard some days but I just try my best to do what I can and I hope these tips
will help you too. Wishing everyone a healthy and happy pregnancy.
