MY BABY HACKS
My baby hacks.
When my little baby came into the world I had no idea what I was doing and I had no one to show me. I mostly winged it all and tried to do what I thought was right. Here are some hacks I leant along the way.
Use swaddles or cloths nappies under areas; I found it was a good idea to place a large cloth or swaddle blanket under anywhere you placed baby during the day. Whether it be a bouncer, play mat or car seat, this trick definitely saved me from a lot of spit ups and poo explosions!
Just throw the cloths in the wash and keep the surface clean.
Put new nappy under baby bum while changing; I started doing this one day and found it was much easier to change Bub. Just put he new nappy spread out under bum then wipe and swap out old one, easy. Also helped protect the changing mat 💩
Use nose sucker; I found using the baby ‘nose suckers’ much better then the regular ball aspirator. It may sound gross but the filter inside the tube saves you from sucking in any nasty germ and leaves baby nose clean.
Use wonder suits; using bonds wonder suits or any kind of zip up onesie was a lifesaver for me in the early days. Just lay baby in suit and zip. There’s No mucking around trying to get tiny heads into tiny shirts and the suits keep them warm.
Use triangle pillow; don’t want to spend money on an expensive nursing pillow? Just purchase a triangle shaped pillow from any local target or home store. I started using this once my bub out grew the Mombo nursing pillow. This still adds great support.
Cut babies nails when there asleep; if you have a fussy baby who won’t let you cut their nails while awake, wait 20 minutes into when they are asleep.
Use nappy change as bonding time; my little boy absolutely loves his change table and I think it’s because I can really get my face close to his and get some good talks in while changing his nappy. He loves when I blow raspberries on his tummy or give him kisses on the cheek. It makes the whole process much more fun.
Stop accidental pee sprays;
Ever hear of a Pee-pee Teepee? Well look them up! They are a great thing to use for little boys. Just cover boy part with this little cloth teepee to catch leeks while changing. These things saved me from being sprayed so many times!
Cut hole in swaddle; now this is definitely a cheat hack. If you used one of those love to dream swaddles with the arms up, you will know that they cover the hands completely. Well once my baby was ready to transition into having his hands out, I just cut a whole in the arm of the swaddle to allow this instead of having to buy a seperate hands out swaddle. Then once babies use to it you can transition him further into a bigger sleep bag. 😴
Nappy bag;
This is an obvious one but keep everything you need in a good quality and convenient nappy bag. I chose a backpack style bag, that way I can easily carry it hands free where ever I go. Also make sure to always pack a spare change of clothes for Bub!
So there are some of my baby hacks I discovered along the way. Thanks for reading and I hope these hacks help!
