A Guide to Forrest Frederick, 16 Months

FEEDING:

Milk - Forrest is currently still breast feeding mostly at night. For his milk drink during the day he has Pediasure drink (strawberry flavour)  in his sippy cup. 

Solids - Forrest is now on three meal and two snacks a day of mashed baby food plus easy to eat finger foods. Foods consumed are Fruits and Veg; pear, apple, banana, paw paw, blue berries, mango, sweet potato, potato, pumpkin, butternut squash, carrot, spinach, zucchini. 
Also grains; farex rice cereal, crackers, wheat bix, whole meal bread (mostley toast) and wafers.
He has also likes tuna, mince and chicken. 
He has tasted vegemite and strawberry jam. 
He has his water from a sippy cup. 

Forrest sits in his high chair for meals. (Child care pod) 

His weight gain is slowly going up. He is now 10.3KG 

Pee a stool and regular.

SLEEPING:

Night - Forrest’s sleep patterns are not regular at night, he may wake up after two hours, or he may sleep for seven hours without waking up. Regardless of the amount of times he wakes during the night he will now only have one breastfeed.
Forrest is sleep trained and will sleep in his cot in his own nursery all night twelve hours total. 

Day Naps - Forrest will usually be awake for 5 hours before needing a nap. He will nap between 1-2hours. Forrest takes his naps in his cot. 

Forrest now sleeps in a crib in his nursery at night with a camera baby monitor to keep an eye on him.
Forrest sleeps in a sleep bag. The room is set to a comfortable temperature.

We read a book to Forrest before any of his sleeps. 
Forrest is put to sleep by holding him in the crandle position while he sucks on his thumb, once he is drowsy he is laid in his crib. A lullaby or white noise machine is played while he sleeps and the room is kept dark with blackout curtains.

He is sleep trained and his bedtime routine is still in place. Sometimes he will cry for a bit before falling asleep. 

PLAYING:

Likes & Interests -Forrest loves Mummy and Daddy’s faces. He smiles when we talk to him and make faces at him. He also likes to look at his own face in the mirror.

Forrest is really into animals, especially sea creatures. He seems to love fishes, whales, crabs and octopuses. He also now loves to hear mummy imitate the sounds animals make. Eg: what sound does the fishy make? ..blob blob blob.. what sound do the bees make? Buzz buzz buzz...
Also farm animals 

Forrest loves to look at his flash cards with animals or A,B,C. 

He is now really into music and sound. I have for him some musical instruments which he loves to play. These include xylophone, drum, rattle, piano and bells. 

Forrest has also been doing swimming lessons once a week since 4 months old and loves it. He is startling to splash, kick and float in the water. His favourite is when mummies blows bubbles in the water. 

Forrest loves to sing lullaby’s. 

Forrest enjoys books. Mummy will read to him but having him sitting on my lap facing the book. He can turn the pages and loves to look at the pictures. We read simple board books. 

Forrest enjoys sound, songs and music. He lives singing songs and listening to music. 
Forrest currently does not partake in any screen time. 

Forrest enjoys different textures.

Forrest is now very interested in most toys. He likes balls, vehicles , puzzles, play kitchen. His also likes his soft teddy bear and Mickey Mouse . He is able to play with most toys very willingly. 

Forrest likes to be outdoors in nature.
He loves water play. 

DISLIKES & UNINTERESTED:

Forrest seems to not like being on his knees and some other various positions. He has trouble waking but we are working on helping his with his balance.

Forrest enjoys different textures but seems a little funny when touching sand or dirt. He pulls the ‘yucky face’ and will not want to touch it. But will walk on it with his shoes on. 

DEVELOPMENTS & MILESTONES:

Forrest Can

Bottom slide around the floor to get around. 

Forrest will smile at mummy and daddy and other family members and most strangers.
He has a good strong grip and can reach and grab toys. He still puts toys to his mouth.
He notices his hands and sucks on them.
He will pull legs high up in the air also into a ball position to grab feet and out feet into mouth. 
Forrest can say mama, dada, buba, yum, yeh dis (this) , dat ( that) he loves to point at what he would like. 

He giggles .
Forrest can roll over from both ways.
Socially Forrest seems interested in other people or other babies. 
He has a good state (eye contact) and pays attention. 

Forrest Can Not:

Forrest’s can not walk independently yet. He needs to work on his balance and confidence. 

He can not sit in his knees or climb up on things. 

Forrest still hates tummy time. He will immediately roll onto his back when placed on his tummy. He will never roll from back to tummy willingly except in sleep . 

HYGIENE & MEDICATION:

Hygiene - Forrest has a warm bath every night with organic wash. He then is given a baby massage with lavender baby oil.
Nose aspiration and saline drops are used for nose when needed. I keep Forrest’s nails trimmed with Baby safety clippers. Hair is brushed with soft baby brush and comb. His teeth are cleaned with baby tooth brush. Bonjelo is occasionally used on suspected teething gums. His ears are gently cleaned with baby cotton. ‘Thank You’ baby wipes are used, along and organic bum rash oil when needed. ‘Thank you’ nappies in size crawler. Baby sunscreen is applied when going out in the sun along with hat, shirt and shoes. 

Forrest now has 13 teeth. 

Medication -

Any fever is managed with infant Panadol or baby Nurofen
